Éclosion reworked the historic pâte de verre technique, altering the ancient tradition to use crystal instead of glass. Beginning with sketches,
Eclosion Cristal
the artists carve the initial model in clay with every detail finalized to perfection. Hot wax is then poured into a hollow mold and once set is
chiseled into a perfect replica of the clay model before being encased in plaster and placed in an oven. The plaster mold is used to generate a
negative mold in elastomer in a liquid state to capture every nuance of the piece.
The mold can then be filled with fragments of crystal, consisting of fragments of crystal in different sizes and colors which when fired in the
kiln melts to form the unique pieces, after having waited few weeks. The block of plaster containing the wax model is then placed in an
oven, making the wax melt and run out of the plaster through specially- created drainage holes, this process is called the ‘lost wax’
technique. Once all the wax has run away, the now hollow mold is then filled with fragments of crystal of different sizes and colors called
groisil. The mold is placed back in a kiln to fuse the crystal together in a paste. Each piece undergoes a series of finishing operations before
proceeding to quality control to check the materials and distribution of colors before each unique crystal item is signed with the Éclosion
signature.
